Precious India

What is the most precious thing in India? Kohinoor diamond? Taj mahal? Art and culture? no. It is the herbs and medicines that are really precious from our country. There are thousands of herbs all over India that are unheard and under utilized. One biggest example is Turmeric.

The benefits from turmeric come mainly from its main ingredient called curcumin. This curcumin has been widely researched. It is highly therapeutic  and has a high medicinal value. It is used in various drugs and pharmaceutics mainly because of its immunity boosting and anti-oxidant properties.

The usage of turmeric in India dates back to 1742. evidence were found in many ancient vedics about its usage. Almost all the dishes made in India would have turmeric in it. It has zero cholesterol and very very little calories.

Ok. having discussed about the phenomenal potential of the turmeric, there comes a pretty obvious question in everybody's mind. Why hasn’t turmeric been used in medication in this this generation? Why do we run to hospital for even small issues that can be solved easily by herbs and home grown medicines like turmeric and others? The answer is tough to digest but the truth is that we failed to pass the glory of the medicine to our next generation and it is paying off heavily. Now we have totally forgotten or unaware of the  precious herbs that our ancestors used to cure numerous diseases.

Let us discuss the other precious herbs in the next post...
