Tips to Nourish Your Skin Naturally

As the time elapses, it keeps pulling out nourishment from the skin, making it look dull and tired slowly. This dullness occurs due to the formation of unstable molecules, known as free radicals, when your skin is exposed to elements like sun, wind, temperature, stress, and pollution during the day. These react with the skin to diminish skin proteins (collagen) and thus weaken the skin substrate to cause a slow & continuous ageing, which is not easy to realize till the results start showing in the form of sagginess and wrinkles. So, how do we stay away from this? Is it possible to prevent it? The answer is in a regular treat of nourishment for your skin that is rich in antioxidants.
Great Diet Mean Great Skin:
The skin is the external reflection of your internal health. Glowing, clear, moist skin is a sign of good diet, whereas pale, dry, oily or scaly skin may result when diet is not up to the standard. Luckily, the eating habit that works best for being healthy also helps to maintain the source of our youthful skin.
Natural Tonic for Your Skin:
Every nutrient has a role in sustaining healthy skin. Vitamin C helps build collagen, a strongly fibrous protein between the connective tissues in our body. Inadequate of this vitamin can cause loss of elasticity & skin strength, bruising, and poor healing of scrapes & cuts. Just a daily intake of a bowl of strawberries or a glass of orange juice gives the vitamin C you need. Vitamin D in milk may help in reducing the symptoms of psoriasis. A good healthy skin also needs the vitamin B, found in milk, wheat germ, and whole grains that helps to fasten wound healing and prevent dry, oily, or flaky skin. Water maintains the skin moist and regulates the function of the oil glands. Zinc in legumes, seafood, and meat assists in the healing of scrapes & cuts. Vitamin A in liver, egg yolks, and green vegetables & fruits, maintains epithelial tissues (membranous tissue covering internal organs and other internal surfaces of the body) such as skin, helps to prevent premature wrinkling, and sandpaper-like skin. The list of nutrients that supports the skin is almost endless.

Amla and Ayurveda

“What is this?”
One of my overseas friends who visited my house showed the round shaped with greenish yellow fruit and asked the above question.
I replied him, “we call it as Amla or Indian gooseberry. Taste it with the mix of salt and chilli powder”.
He looked at me, had a piece of amla with that mix and said, “It has a sour taste but I like this”.
I remember the days when I was young. I used to drink water once I finished eating amla. Do you have such experience? Wow, it really tastes sweet!
Amla is so respected in Ayurveda. You will admit it once I explain about its benefits
.
Eating Amla with honey improves your eyesight and drinking amla juice makes one’s skin brighten.
When you apply amla with lemon juice on your scalp for 20 min and rinse off with water, you will get a shiny strengthen hair.
Amla has an excellent source of vitamin C and thus drinking its juice reduces premature gray hair, delays premature ageing signs like fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots.
It is good for digestion and a glass of amla juice has Vitamin C that is twenty times more than a glass of fresh orange juice.
I hope you understand why it is celebrated in the life of Ayurveda.  If you would like to get a natural glow look, then go for Amla!

Role of a cucumber in the Ayurvedic lifestyle

"It’s really hot now. I can’t go out without an umbrella or a shawl. I have to cover my face with the stole like a face protector”. My daughter speaks to her reflection in the mirror. I watched her and asked, “Are you going somewhere?”. “Yes mom, but I am getting afraid to go out, since it is very hot and my skin is becoming dull”. I said, “Add cucumber in your diet menu”. She raised a question, “Is that good for me?”.

I said that it is good for one’s health and skin. Most of the people are not aware of the vegetables and its uses, like my daughter. You can have a cucumber while you feel hot and thirsty. This will lessen your thirst and refresh you.

Place a slice of a cucumber on your eyes that will reduce the tiredness of your eyes and eye puffiness. Cucumber juice is good for our health and reduces hair fall. Add a few drops of lemon with the cucumber juice and then use it as a facial mask/ pack which will make your skin glow and improve your skin complexion.  Cucumber plays an important role in the manufacture of skin and hair care products. My daughter said gleefully, “I am completely prepared to be cool with the cucumber”.

Enjoy this summer with the cucumber salad!
